The training times are as follows;
Monday; 21:30 - 23:00
Tuesday; 19:30 - 21:30
Thursday; 19:30 - 21:30
Friday; 18:00 - 20:00
All our training sessions are in Hall I of the ACLO building, the first hall on the right when you enter the Sports Center.
No, we have boxing gloves you can borrow at Hall I. Besides sports clothing, a bottle of water and maybe a towel for the sweat, there is no need to bring anything.
We also sell bandages and mouthguards to our members for a cheap price.
On Tuesday and Thursday we generally train in bigger groups with more starting boxers. In these training sessions we, besides focusing on boxing skills and sparring, also focus on improving overall endurance and agility.
In our Monday and Friday training sessions we tend to train in smaller groups and focus more on (advanced) technique.
As a member you are of course welcome to join any training session you would like.
There are no stupid questions, but this one sure is.
Pugilice is the student association for all boxers and on all levels. At Pugilice you can become stronger, fitter, improve your technique and of course bond with fellow members over drinks during our socials and activities.
So yes, it is a lot of fun. Do you think we would trashtalk our own association through the website?
We are a student boxing association. As the Dutch boxing federation is quite strict, we as a student association are not licensed to register out members for national competitions of the NBB. We do, however, host internal tournaments and have participated in the Dutch student championships (GNSK). We also have quite a few members who box competitively and are registered with other boxing schools, besides being a member of Pugilice. There are for sure options to train for competition and fight other students with Pugilice, but we are not a member of the NBB.
No. Pugilice is there for everyone with a heart for boxing, including people who are new to the sport. We are a student association with many members who had never boxed before they started their student life in Groningen. There are also training sessions that focus on more advanced technique for those who want to do competitive boxing and take their skills to the next level.
For people without any experience we recommend you to join the beginner course first, since this course is intended to teach you the basics. You can sign up for the beginner course through the ACLO website. See the ACLO website for more information.
Sometimes it happens that the boxing course is full, or you were unable to meet the deadline for registration.
Since often some people who registered are unable to come, there is a chance that you can still participate in the course. Book a try-out by using the 'Try-out training' button on the home page, or email us: bestuur.pugilice@gmail.com
The ACLO is the overarching student sports organization of the University of Groningen and the Hanze university of applied sciences and for the 50 sports clubs of the ACLO. To become a member of Pugilice, you first need to become a member of the ACLO. It is mandatory to become an ACLO member if you wish to join any of the student sport associations in Groningen. Being an ACLO member also means that you can enrol in free courses and rent sport equipment and halls.
You can buy an ACLO card through the website of the ACLO. An ACLO membership for students costs €59.95 a year and €49.95 for a semester.
Not sure if you want to join the ACLO? Come join us for a trial session first.
For our membership you have to pay by transferring the money to the association. Instructions are in the welcome email.
Absolutely no worries! You need an ACLO card when training but we will be able to see that you have one once you become a member. You never need to bring your student card to a try-out, course or regular training.
No, you need to deregister through the website (pugilice.nl/cancel) to stop the automatic debit collection for the new year or send us an email.
The deadline for the new academic year is the 1st of September or the 1st of February for the semester membership. After this date your membership will be automatically extended.
