Boxing, or pugilism, is a tactical combat sport that focuses on fitness, coordination and ring awareness. It is an intensive sport for which you use your whole body. Our association is there for boxers of all levels, whether you want to become a competitive boxer or just improve your overall self-defense and endurance.
We are an association for students of both Hanze University and the University of Groningen. Our membership is quite evenly divided between men and women and international and Dutch students. There is a lot of freedom to come and train on any of our four training sessions and it is a great contact sport to make new friends.
Pugilice is a very inclusive association where everyone is welcome to come and release their energy. With our monthly social and activity there is plenty of room to get actively involved in the association and despite the fact that we regularly hit each other in the face, many friendships have been made at our association.
We, as the 45th board of G.S.B.V. Pugilice, actively commit ourselves to taking our boxing association to the next level. If you have any comments or remarks, don’t hesitate to approach us during training or contact us through bestuur.pugilice@gmail.com

Joined Pugilice for keeping fit and working a bit on my boxing skills. I found more than a boxing club, where partying and hard work somehow exist equally, with great people that will quickly make you feel like home. Also decent at boxing....
Pugilice is one of the most social and beginner friendly student sports organisation in Groningen. I've been a member for more than four years and have no desire to practice boxing elsewhere.
At the end of each training, I always leave with a great feeling of satisfaction. In the years that I’ve been a member at Pugilice, I’ve improved a lot physically and on top of that met a lot of people that are very close friends now. 10/10 would recommend!
I think it's really nice how Pugilice has a low entry level for all students. I have been able to considerably develop my boxing skills since I first joined and made a lot of new friends along the way. Plus it's nice to punch people like Robin.
Pugilice is a great way to practice boxing as a student, whether you are only beginning or more experienced. It is easily incorporated into student life since you can come as often as you like, and there’s a great social aspect too!
I've been training with Pugilice for a few years now, and I love it; the trainings, pushing yourself harder, all the new people you meet and the new friends you make! It is so much more than a sportassociation (if you want to).
A really fun organization. The training sessions are intense, educational and social for both beginners and advanced boxers. The social activities organized by the club are also great to attend. My personal highlight is sparring with the president, perfect for letting out frustration.
People often ask me what I think about G.S.B.V. Pugilice. Do you think we can develop our boxing and have a lot of fun at the same time? There's only one correct answer to that question: Yes we can.
As an association we are very proud to be based in the lively student city Groningen. We are part of the ACLO; the overarching student sports organization of the University of Groningen and the Hanze university of applied sciences. All our socials are held in the city centre of Groningen, offering our members activities close to home.
GroningenLife is a platform for (upcoming) students in Groningen. It is a group of enthusiastic students who can tell you everything about the student life in Groningen. Pushing limits since 1980
Joined Pugilice 2.5 years ago and definitely have never regretted that decision! I really like how open and friendly everybody is, with trainings that are suitable for both beginners and more advanced boxers.
